When you rent a car, you are responsible for accidents and residence harm you cause to others, and harm to the rental-car whether it�s your mistake or not. With some restrictions, your insurance policy will protect you in your plan area (United States, its belongings and areas, and Canada) if you harm someone or their residence. In most cases, your auto plan will also protect harm to the rental-car, but you must carry accident and extensive protection on at least one of your covered vehicles.
If you plan on your bank card protecting harm to your rental-car, read the terms and conditions. Some only provide protection after you confirm there is no protection under your personal plan. Some cards actually have dollar restrictions and very limited protection.
